HOW IT WORKS
Recovery of the bulk material from storage is accomplished by strings of sweep buckets. Each string is fixed at the leading end to a powered rotating “pull ring” encircling the storage area, while the trailing end is unrestrained.
- The pull ring rotates around the perimeter of the bin and natural dynamic forces cause the buckets to move toward the center.
- The buckets engage the stored material at the perimeter of the pile.
- The buckets fill with material which is swept through openings in the floor into an outfeed conveyor below.
- The conveyor delivers the recovered material at a uniform controlled rate to a designated location outside of the storage area.

Our Approach
FOUNDATION
Atlas Bin Foundation – Concrete poured as a simple as slab on grade or an elevated slab on a ring wall or on top of piles or columns. One of the advantages of the Atlas Storage & Reclaim System is the ability to serve more than one point of use from a single bin by employing more than one discharge conveyor. That flexibility starts with the foundation and how the discharge conveyor(s) are arranged.
STRUCTURE
Atlas Storage Bin Structure – The standard silo structure is all steel designed to withstand internal loads imposed by material with an average density of 25 pounds per cubic foot with an angle of repose of 45º. Available in both open and closed storage designs. The silo structure is also designed for the following external loads: Wind loading (equal to approx. 100 m.p.h. actual wind load) 30 p.s.f.; Snow load is 20 p.s.f.; Vertical concentric load on center of roof due to weight of infeed conveyor or cyclone is 10,000 pounds. (Modified bin structure designs can be provided to meet other loading conditions and/or individual requirements.)
CONVEYOR
Cross Feed Conveyor – A box type drag chain conveyor is furnished as standard equipment. The actual cross-sectional size and chain specification are dependent upon the outfeed rate required. System designs can even incorporate multiple conveyors, capable of delivering material from a single storage unit to multiple locations at the same or differing rates.
SWEEP SYSTEM
Atlas Sweep System – The sweep system consists of a pull ring and delivery buckets. The sweep system is designed with either three or four strings of standardized delivery buckets depending on specific outfeed flow rate requirements.
SWEEP DRIVE
Atlas Sweep Drive – One or more sweep drives power the sweep system, pull ring and delivery buckets, that rotates around the material pile. Sweep drives are available in either a friction or cycloidal type design.
